Bottom 2

"What gives me the most energy in my work is discovering and learning about new machines and processes. It keeps my job challenging and diverse."

My name is Rob, and I have been working at Oliver Healthcare Packaging as an Operator for 14 years now.

With 28 years of experience in the graphic industry, I never thought I would find my footing in a completely different work environment. Yet, for the past 14 years, I have been working with great enthusiasm at Oliver Healthcare Packaging, where I can combine my passion for technology and precision with training colleagues and improving processes.

How It All Began

My career started in the graphic industry as a rotary printer, working with printing presses, ink, and everything that comes with it. When my last workplace shut down, I faced a major challenge. I wanted to stay in the graphic industry, but due to the recession, job opportunities were scarce.

Through a job listing, I found my way to Oliver. During my interview, they asked if I was interested in working in the Pouch department. At first, I wasn’t sure if it was the right fit—it was completely different from what I was used to. Still, I decided to take on the challenge. Now, 14 years later, I know I made the right choice.

New Challenges, New Opportunities

As an operator, I work with various machines, including the Autozone Coater. This machine produces sterile materials used as lids for medical applications. The job requires a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of responsibility, which I find very fulfilling.

What gives me the most energy in my work is discovering and learning about new machines and processes. If a machine produces the same product for weeks, I start looking for ways to improve efficiency or dive into a new project. That’s what keeps my work challenging and diverse.

Sharing Knowledge and Teamwork

Beyond my own tasks, I get great satisfaction from training colleagues. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion—not just the technical aspects, but also the importance of discipline and adaptability. The strict hygiene and quality standards at Oliver require a serious approach, and I try to instill this in new employees.

Sometimes, you can tell that this line of work isn’t for everyone. You need to be open to change and have an eye for precision, or it will be difficult to work in a cleanroom environment. But for those who are truly motivated, it's a place where you can learn a lot and develop yourself.

Working in an International Environment

One of the things that makes Oliver unique is the international work environment. I collaborate with colleagues from all over the world, leading to interesting cultural exchanges. The diversity in our teams enriches the workplace and makes the job even more special.

Life Outside of Work

Outside of work, I like to stay active. I ride motorcycles, go to the gym, and work on projects in and around the house. After a motorcycle accident years ago, I’ve become even more aware of how valuable it is to stay healthy and fit.

My Advice to Future Colleagues

For anyone considering a job in the cleanroom, I have one important piece of advice: be prepared for a unique work environment. The job requires adapting to hygiene regulations, but it also offers great opportunities to grow and be part of an international team. If you are open to change and challenges, Oliver is a great place to work.

Looking Ahead

As long as there are challenges, I will stay at Oliver. I enjoy figuring out how machines work, passing on knowledge, and improving processes. There is always something new to learn or discover, and that is what makes this job so rewarding.
