The Atlas platform sits at the heart of our warehouse and logistics operations — and as an IT Solutions Designer, you ensure it evolves in a scalable, future‑proof way.
Bridging Operations, Engineering, PSE and Software Development, you translate complex logistics challenges into
robust system solutions. You don’t just capture requirements — you understand the underlying need and shape solutions that work across customers, processes and sites.
Your role
As IT Solutions Designer (Atlas), you are the functional and technical bridge between the business and the development organization. You combine strong analytical skills with technical understanding to guide the design of solutions that are generic, scalable and maintainable — not one‑off fixes for single scenarios.
You work closely with Operations, PSE and Engineering on the business side, and with a team of six dedicated Atlas developers, as well as Corporate Solution Managers and Developers, on the IT side.
You are responsible for ensuring that business requirements are properly understood, translated and validated — from initial problem statement to implemented solution.
Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll do:
- Analyze business problems and logistics process challenges, and uncover the true underlying requirements.
- Review and interpret Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), which are often solution‑oriented, and translate them into clear functional needs.
- Define, create and validate Functional Specifications.
- Contribute to and review Technical Specifications in close collaboration with development teams.
- Guide solution design with a focus on reusability, scalability and long‑term maintainability
- Act as the key functional point of contact between Operations, Engineering, PSE and Development.
- Support development teams during implementation and testing.
- Perform functional code reviews to validate that implemented solutions correctly cover all functional requirements.
- Ensure alignment between local solutions and corporate standards and roadmaps.
What we are looking for:
- Strong functional‑analytical skills and the ability to connect business needs with technical solutions.
- Experience in logistics, warehousing or supply‑chain related IT environments.
- Ability to understand, challenge and refine BRDs.
- Experience creating and validating Functional Specifications.
- Sufficient technical understanding to collaborate effectively with software developers and perform functional code reviews.
- The ability to perform deep technical code reviews is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to operate across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Fluent in English; working knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
The Atlas landscape:
You will be responsible for solution design for the warehouse management applications Atlas1, AtlasPrime and AtlasPrimeMed. All Atlas applications at Flex are in house developed solutions, built on the Rocket UniVerse platform, with application logic implemented in UniVerse BASIC.
The Atlas platform is a core systems within our logistics landscape and plays a central role in customer operations. It integrates with a broad ecosystem of surrounding systems, including internal logistics platforms, transport management systems, and external customer and supplier interfaces, using modern integration technologies such as APIs, middleware solutions (webMethods, MuleSoft, FCS & LinkX), and connections to our customs system Streamliner.
This makes Atlas a highly integrated, business‑critical platform where solution design choices have direct operational impact.
